A community-rooted and community based organisation dedicated to restoring dignity and opportunity among vulnerable populations in Uganda
To restore dignity and transform lives by providing protection, care, and empowerment for vulnerable children and elderly persons, while strengthening families and supporting youth to build resilient, thriving communities.
A Uganda where every vulnerable child and elderly person lives with dignity, safety, and opportunity, supported by strong families and resilient communities.
MIFRU is a community-rooted and community based organization dedicated to restoring dignity and opportunity
MIFRU was established in 2017 as a community-based initiative, operating informally for eight years before transitioning to formal NGO status. We operate from Migana Villas Complex, a safe and organized environment housing our children's home, administrative office, and community support activities. Surrounded by farmland and trees, it's a peaceful setting where our beneficiaries heal, grow, and thrive.

Restoring Dignity, Rebuilding Lives
From compassion to community transformation
MIFRU was born out of lived experience, compassion, and deep commitment. Founder Michael Oketch Omwodo grew up in Migana Village witnessing struggles of orphans, elderly, and vulnerable families.
Simple acts of care began: supporting elderly residents, providing food to vulnerable households, and sponsoring education of orphans.
Work expanded to include children's home, elderly support, community farming, nutrition programs, early childhood care, and education sponsorship.
First sponsored orphans graduated from school—a major milestone symbolizing the heart of MIFRU's mission and the transformation we create.
MIFRU stands as a beacon of hope and restoration in Migana Village, with plans to expand impact through new programs and stronger partnerships.
